This unscripted reality show centres around six strangers, three men and three women, who live under the same roof and as any reality television show, we see how the relationships develop and how people change throughout. Each individual comes to the home with a backstory as well as a certain goal to achieve whilst cohabiting there. The diverse group initially includes a passionate hockey player who wishes to spread the love and sport of hockey to Japan, a third year university student who dreams to become a model, a freelance writer and interpreter who simply wants to experience the life and essence of 'terrace house', an aspiring model who hopes to gain more recognition and publicity through the show, a young and aspiring teen chef, and a professional snowboarder who hopes to start his own apparel brand.

As the house members achieve their goals throughout the show and feel that they have achieved it- whether it be finding a romantic partner, successfully launching their brand, or having felt the life experience that they wanted to gain, they will choose to leave the house and get replaced by a new house member that will join the group. This cycle will keep repeating itself as members leave; this progresses the show and keeps it fresh.

Panel of commentators

Along with the cast there is a panel of celebrity commentators that I feel really makes the show. The commenters judge (very harshly) on how the house members behave and interact in certain situations, giving their varying opinions and oftentimes saying things that reflect my opinion as well. They give us, the viewers, a voice as well as giving a comical and critique judgment on the housemates actions. In a sense, they help 'rationalize' the show and keep it lighthearted.
